Hey guys this is Derek Hagner I bought a 383 Stroker (Edelbrock special) one of ten in Dec. of 03 and I'm extremely happy with it. You guys did a great job a matter of fact you have it posted under your Chevy performance category, it's the one with the yellow block under main heading. Anyways I wanted to say thanks for everything, but I have a question. The engine sets in a 67 Camaro with a TH 400, 3000 stall, 1 7/8 super comp headers with 390 gearing and I'm in the 6000 to 6500 rpms and not even down the 1/8 mile, how far can I safely rev this combo? This engine was upgraded with Keith Black pistons and air gap intake. I've installed a digital rev limiter to protect the engine but it sure is pulling when it kicks in at 6500 rpm. If the engine can handle more revs do I need to upgrade the distributor to something that can withstand the rpms? Again the engine is awesome Doug did a great job. Thanks for all the help and hope the new shop is going smoothly.

Dear Doug & Steve
Just wanted to drop you a letter to let you know how much I am enjoying my car after all the hard work you guys did. Not only does the engine sound great but also performs like a champ. I have more power than I feel safe using.
I have to admit I was a little nervous when the tow truck came to pick up my 1968 Dodge Polara back in January. I only knew your company through what I read and saw on your web site. I was pleasantly surprised when you called to let me know that my car had arrived safely and you did a thorough inspection to make sure that no body or paint damage occurred during transit.
As you know, I kept adding more and more work to be done to the car. First it was the engine rebuild, then the drum to disk brake conversion, then the new gas tank and sending unit, then the headers, then the leaf springs, New rear drums and rotors, and finally stall converter and high performance transmission. You handled all my projects with enthusiasm and professionalism. When my son and I came down to New Jersey To "visit" my car, you were fantastic. You gave us the full tour of the shop, showed us my engine and what work was already completed. You guys dropped everything and treated us like "VIP"s.
Thank you so much for your help in meeting and exceeding my expectations for my car. I highly recommend you to people I meet at Mopar Clubs and shows. Keep up the great work and I will see soon when I bring in my Z28 for work.

Just wanted to let you know that the engine is in the Camaro. I started it up and am very impressed! It was rush to hear it run .I let it Idle for thirty five min. Now and then I INCREASE THE RPM TWO 2000,THEN 2400 ,never hit it hard, Though it was like a horse wanting to go! Hope to get it on the road very soon. The throttle response is awesome. The temp, never got above180* I enclosed a few pic's let me know what you think.

Doug and Steve,
I just wanted to thank you guys for the great 383-510 horse power stroker you built for my 81 pickup. Three days after it arrived, it was in my pickup and I was roasting the tires right out of the garage. I love beating on all the mustangs and Camaro's around town off the light. It was a great relief to me to able to call Steve and ask him question during the build process. Thanks again guys and will be calling to order another engine for my next project.

Hey Guys !!
What an absolute pleasure it has been working with you. The entire process of my motor build, from conception to completion, has been more than I could of hoped.
The motor runs flawlessly. I just returned from a small car show in Prairie City, Oregon. The accolades were amazing. Many of the show participants were very imprested with the sound, power and appearance of my new 350/420 for such a fair price. The engine has been a perfect compliment to my car.
I want to thank you for all you have done. As the car nears completion, it has been my great pleasure working with all of you. I wish you much success in the new year to come.

Dear Doug & Steve
It was a pleasure meeting you guys when I picked up my engine (Chevy 502) when I pulled up and saw the engine sitting there I was amazed it stopped me in my tracks I can't believe the quality and craftsmanship of the engine you guys are awesome I would recommend you in a heartbeat to anybody when I dropped the engine off at my sons work every mechanic in the shop stopped what they were doing to look at this masterpiece they could not believe what this engine looked like they were drooling over this engine when they ask me where I bought it from I proudly said Proformance Unlimited once again I would like to thank you guys for one hell of a engine job well done when this project is done I will send the camera back to you once again great work thank you so much.

Doug and Steve,
I can’t thank you enough for building my 1970 Pontiac 400 with 10.75 to 1 compression, new Edelbrock performer rpm manifold, new Edelbrock 750 carburetor, and speed pro forged pistons. You painted it the correct Pontiac blue and it arrived beautifully put together. Thanks for taking the time to build me exactly what I wanted. The engine has worked great now for 4 years or so and has plenty of power(probably around 400hp). It even held together when I accidentally revved it to 7000 rpm a couple of times. That video of it bench revving to 7200 is unreal. I installed back in my 67 GTO and it looks fantastic. It is usually one of the best looking engines at cruise nights. I am enclosing some pics for you. Also, I can’t believe you built such a great engine with so many new parts for the low price you charged. It cost me 30% less than if I had built it in New Orleans including the shipping both ways By the way, I might be ready to take another step for even more power. What would suggest next? I could send you the heads for porting and swap the cam for something more radical. The current cam is an angle with about 228 and a low lift of .49. It is pretty tame and I would like something with more of a lope. It is strictly a street cruiser, so I don’t want to sacrifice too much drivability. Could you stroke this engine out for more cubes than the current 412? Or would you suggest I get a 455 block and stroke this for monster torque with great drivability? If I do a 455 I will want to add a turbo at some point when I can afford it. Glad your business is doing well. I always recommend your shop to every single person I meet that needs any type of performance engine build. You are the best. No one else will ever build my engines.

February 18, 2007
I want to take a few minutes and thank everyone at Proformance Unlimited for their professional dedication on the 350 440HP "high roller" engine that was so skillfully assembled for my 68' Camaro. after getting the engine compartment all ready I dropped the "roller" in and it fired up on the first crank!
I really appreciate the staff taking my calls on the questions I have had along the way. I can't wait until spring time so I can get it out and really enjoy the massive horsepower this engine is cranking out. My first small run showed me the potential this car can have; it sure was a major upgrade on the engine that was running in the car before.
Again my many thanks to the entire team, what a great job!!

Well, Steve sorry it took so long to get with you on the first stage of our installation of the Great Crate 383 you guys built for my 34 Ford. It arrived in the afternoon by UPS and we unloaded it, the UPS man and pushed it into my garage. It was like someone spread female hormones in the neighborhood, before I knew it all the men in the area picked up the scent and were drawn to my garage. First it was the UPS man refusing to leave until I opened the box, then there were 8 guys standing around waiting for me to take the cover off. I suddenly sprung to my tool box for a box knife but before I got back all my friends had popped the box top and were all standing around with a Woodie ""Cheap Male Viagra" It was a site to behold" we all stood around this beautiful motor with beer in hand and wearing sun glasses because the reflection from the motor caused extensive glare, a guy can never have to much chrome or horse power you know, we all conversed about how it will look and what I should do to the "34". You guys built one hell of a motor cant wait to get it into the car and fire that Baby up for its first run, stay tuned for the next episode, when the motor goes in and the pictures begin. In the mean time I'm going to throw a chain around it and wear it around my neck " Man Bling" PS. Steve I talked to a friend of mine Mark Archer of Camas WA. About you and he also ordered a 350 for his ''74 Vet. Still can’t believe the great job you guys did and what a work of art

Steve & Doug,,
I would like to thank you both and the others in your shop for the 2 motors that you built for me the 302 went in the 77 PINTO WAGON turning consistent 11.98 with over 100- 1/4 mile runs hot lapping you all did a great job on that one, I know I am not the best customer to have but you worked with me and still do when ever I call someone is always there to listen and help, I thank you for that,, You did such a great job I went to the next stage and had you build a 418 stroker, short block and guided me with what it was capable of doing and it does do it, got that in the 88 mustang turning 10.88 in a 1/4 mile and the same thing I take my time between laps but that is a beast of a motor,, you can attach pictures from my MySpace both racing and sitting. We do have another build coming up the El Camino which we have been talking about just have to wait for the wife's permission, THANK YOU I tell everyone I can about you all at PROFORMANCE UNLIMITED and I am sure you got a few customers. We will be talking soon! Keep up the great work

I can't help myself. I know I've already expressed my feelings on how happy I am with the 350/350HP Chevy power plant I purchased from your company. Truth be tooled, I've built a few hot rods over the years and have never ventured to far from home with any of them. Note: I recently decided to drive my newly finished truck from St. Mary's Ga. located just north of Jacksonville, Fl. To Rochester New York. I decided to do this for a reason. In 1983 I joined the Navy and bought this truck from the dealership my father worked at. My wife and I drove away from our Wedding reception in this truck in 1989 and needless to say it has a lot of history. My late Wife and Father have since gone, and I decided to make this trip with my old Toy - with them in mind I've got to tell you! I felt like a kid again traveling with no A/C , no tunes and just the sound of duel exhaust. I had so much fun watching heads turn traveling up I-95 and through the mountains of N. Carolina, W. Virginia and Pennsylvania and New York and then back home. This trip was planned only due to the sustained performance of your outstanding power plant. It ran better than my 2007 Tundra and I averaged 12 miles per gal with 529 gears on 40 inch tires. At one point I drove for 17 hours straight only stopping for Gas! Your motor has never skipped a beat since the first time the key was turned.

The engine (Ford 289) arrived today, and it is friggin' awesome. I cannot tell you how happy I am with it. I can't wait to get it in my car. I'm so stoked about this engine. The quality and workmanship is evident, I'm just blown away. The wait was well worth it. We will start putting it in this weekend, send ya some pics when we are done. The run video was awesome.
Thanks to all

Factory Five Cobra is up and running. I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with your engine (Ford 302). It started the first time and ever time hence. It is everything I expected and more! At 2500 RPM in 2d or 3d gear it feels like the car just got a kick in the ass- really breathtaking acceleration for a 300hp engine. I would recommend your engines to anyone who would listen- they're that good.
Thanks again for a great product and super service.

This is Lenny everything is still running strong imagine that like we would expect anything less. The motor (Chevy 383) is still AWESOME I thought I would send you another photo of my Camaro to post on your customer car photos page if you want if not that's cool. Be good and I will talk to you soon about the 65 Mercury 289 I need you to do for me.

I purchased a 383 stroker with 450 horse last year from you. Just wanted to let you know it is running awesome. The motor really likes the combo, and the combo fit under my stock hood. The engine is hooked up to a TCI hypo turbo 350 and Moser 12 bolt. The car has 8600 original miles, still kept all the stock parts.

I have worked with several other builders in the past and found that the knowledge and quality of workmanship that Proformance has will be my only choice for future builds. It was well worth traveling from upstate NY to meet and work with the staff. There is nothing else that compares to you.

I found the service after the sale to be above and beyond my expectations. Steve and the crew took care of my situation in a timely manner despite the blizzard of 2010. My builder was impressed by the parts used and workmanship. These people really stand behind their products. Thanks again and by the way, my "425hp" engine chassis dyno'd at 426hp. Do you sell tires?

Doug & Steve,
Hey guys. I thought I'd send you some photos (and a brief video) and my appreciation for the engine you built for me. I am very pleased with how everything turned out, and I am having a blast with my car now. I always liked my Camaro, but now with the 350/335 you built for me, and the Monster Transmission you ordered to match, I love the car. For those of your customers like me who aren't looking for 500 Hp, but rather a good reliable amount of thump for a weekend cruiser, I pass on my highest recommendation. Here in the northwoods of Wisconsin I've had a number of below freezing starts and she turns over on the first crank like a dream. Fortunately, this baby is coming to Australia with me, where I have no doubt you will have some additional interested Aussies looking up Proformance on the net pretty soon.
Again, thanks for all your help in not only building the engine I desired, but also in helping us make sure that we got it right and and installed correctly.
Take care folks

Next time I’m down south I’ll stop by for you guys to ring it out.
The 383 is awesome, sounds nasty, and pulls like an iron man in a tug-a-war competition.

I have to admit I'm a fan. It all started with the live run videos. The person who put your website together did a great job. It pulled me in and now I'm part of this unofficial club that seems to be forming itself. Your customers are all proud of their engines and I talk to some of them regularly. It's incredible that your customers including myself tend to communicate with each other. I posted some vids on you tube and people contacted me within days to talk about there engines and how they perform. The amazing thing is some people weren't even from this country. As you know your web site is reaching people from all over the world and your customers are coming together like some high performance enthusiast club. For this to happen you know your doing something right. You guys need to be very proud of yourselves and the success that you have obviously worked very hard for. Not to mention the risks you guys sometime take doing those runs with some of your project cars. The cops must love you guys. Maybe you should donate a engine or two to your local police department or help them out with a pursuit special so they will give you guys a break so you can continue to burn up the pavement out in front of your shop. Some of the vids of your project cars like that green Camaro with the 427 are great. Keep those coming. I hope one day I can purchase another engine package with maybe some turbos or grass roots blower sitting on top of one of your big blocks. Your engines are defiantly habit forming. For now I will have to be satisfied with upgrading my drive line. My 383 is tearing up some parts. I wish I would have let you guys (and Kim) put together my transmission combination along with my engine package. It would have saved me some time and money, not to mention having to deal with the down time. That's really hard to stomach when all I want to do is run this 383. It has so much power but it purrs like a kitten when I'm cruising down the road and when I put the hammer down it screams like a banshee. You guys have built my dream engine and I am so grateful for all your effort that you all have put in to my investment.
Thanks again, and if anyone near Michigan who wants to see in person what a Proformance Unlimited engine can do send them my way. I'm always looking for a reason to burn up some gas and melt my tires.

I want to thank you for building this beautiful power plant for my '67 Camaro. You guy's make dreams come true for people like me. Its been 2 years with my 500hp 383 and I just wanted to show you the heart beat you put into the 2nd love of my life other than the wife my first love of course lol. You guy's are the real deal and I tell everyone about you. This would really mean a lot to me if you could put this up on your web site so people can see how you have effected guy's like me. You guy's make shit happen!!
